NCAA Women’s March Madness needed a campaign that elevated the tournament beyond highlights — one that captured both the athletic greatness and the cultural significance of women’s college basketball.
Reimagine the broadcast as a cultural performance by drawing inspiration from HBCU traditions.
The “Drum Major” concept became the backbone of the spot, blending rhythm, pageantry, and cinematic storytelling to honor the game’s power. We partnered with Morehouse University, filming on their campus and taping the school's band members to bring that authentic band energy.
Aired during the Oscars and nationally as one of ESPN’s signature Women’s March Madness pieces. Resonated as a cultural moment, drawing praise for its creativity and authenticity. Strengthened ESPN’s position as a leader in elevating women’s sports with storytelling rooted in culture.
